The Success Connection is located in LART 1-2 in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Building.

Weatherford College Success Connection began operations in September of 1994 under the guidance of the director of Instructional Support Services and results from a dream shared by the faculty, staff, and administration of Weatherford College. The goal of the Success Connection is to provide students with the skills, resources, and experiences needed to succeed in college. Currently, the center is under the guidance of Ms. Rhonda Torres, Dean of Teacher Education and Instructional Support; Sue Coody, Director of Instructional Support; and Ann Marshall, Success Connection Coordinator.

Within a year of its opening, the Success Connection outgrew its offices on the second floor of Weatherford College Library and was relocated to Room 1-2 in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Building, the facility previously occupied by the Skills Center. With the move, the physical size of the Success Connection was doubled, making it possible to add new programs and equipment and to expand services. Success Connection personnel constantly reevaluate student and faculty needs to update and augment existing services and to ensure that the educational needs of all Weatherford College students are being fulfilled. During the past decade, the scope and resources of the Success Connection have increased tremendously.

The Success Connection provides tutoring for all students at Weatherford College, especially those in THEA-required courses. In cooperation with several certificate programs, the Success Connection now provides preparatory materials for those candidates needing to complete the COMPASS assessment or the Nurse Entrance Test. Additionally, the Success Connection has study materials and programs available for anyone preparing for the THEA test. Outreach programs, such as in-class presentations, class-specific workshops, and campus-wide workshops have been instituted to assist faculty and students of Weatherford College. To assist our special populations students, Special Populations Tutors are available to read materials or tests, mark scantrons, take notes, type papers, assist with homework, and help prepare for tests. Furthermore, the Success Connection provides a Testing Lab where instructional testing and make-up testing occur. On occasion, instructors also place study materials in the Success Connection for student review.

With student contacts and service hours increasing at an average growth rate of 10% annually, the Success Connection is one of the fastest growing and most needed facilities at Weatherford College. With dedicated people like Rhonda Torres in charge, this facility will continue to grow and improve services provided for Weatherford College students. The Success Connection looks forward to a long and productive life at Weatherford College.
