Weatherford College Summer Bridge Program

The faculty and staff in Instructional Support at Weatherford College are excited about the 2009 version of the Summer Bridge program. Developmental education is our "thing"; we know that it is a vital and rewarding part of the college experience for many students. However, we also know that too many students spend unnecessary time and money in these courses that they could avoid by reviewing before they take the assessment/placement test. Our Summer Bridge program provides that review and retest.

There will be a one-week session focusing on reading/writing skills (July 20-24) and a two-week session focusing on math skills (July 27-August 7). College readiness information will be included throughout both sessions. The sessions themselves are free; students will need to provide the $25 fee for COMPASS.

This program focuses on helping students review and expand skills on the COMPASS or alternative assessment for placement in college-level courses.

Avoid having to take courses that DO NOT transfer and DO NOT count for college credit!

If you are not TSI compliant, you will have to take at least one developmental class each semester until you have satisfied all requirements. Your TAKS score must be at least 2200 in Math/ELA to be TSI complete.

Reading:

• If your score on the THEA was 0 - 190 or your score was 0 - 60 on the COMPASS, you must take READ 0301 and READ 0302.
• If your score on the THEA was 191 - 220 or your score was 61 - 80 on the COMPASS, you must take READ 0302.

English:

• If your score on the THEA was 0 - 180 or your score was 0 - 35 on the COMPASS, you must take ENGL 0301 and ENGL 0302.
• If your score on the THEA was 181 - 219 or your score was 36 - 58 on the COMPASS, you must take ENGL 0302.

Math:

• If your Pre Algebra score on the THEA was less than175 or your Pre Algebra score was 0 - 37 on the COMPASS, you must take MATH 0301 and MATH 0302 and MATH 0303.
• If your Pre Algebra score on the THEA was 176 - 199 or your Pre Algebra score was 38 - 100 on the COMPASS  or your Algebra score was 0 - 42 on the COMPASS, you must take MATH 0302 and MATH 0303.
• If your Algebra score on the THEA was 200 - 229 or your Algebra score was 43 - 50 on the COMPASS, you must take MATH 0303 or College Algebra with approval.
